A patio contractor that knows Beverly

Beverly is Colonial country — and the masonry that frames a property here has to respect that. We build patios for homes throughout Montserrat and Beverly Farms, with material choices and detailing that fit the local architecture. Beverly Farms features outstanding seaside-stone estate work.

Choosing a patio contractor in Beverly means choosing someone who'll show up. We do. MA HIC registered and insured — and the same crew you meet at the estimate is the crew that builds the project.

Common patio problems in Beverly

  • Existing patio is heaving, settling, or cracking after freeze-thaw cycles — particularly common in Beverly given coastal salt air.
  • Old concrete slab is stained, pitted, or has separated joints
  • Pavers have shifted, sunk, or grown weeds in the joints
  • Outdoor space drains toward the house instead of away
  • Backyard has no usable surface for dining, fire pit, or seating

Materials we use

  • Bluestone (Pennsylvania)
  • Granite cobble and slab
  • Concrete pavers (Techo-Bloc, Unilock, Belgard)
  • Natural fieldstone
  • Brick paver

What we inspect

  • Base depth and compaction (minimum 6" of compacted ¾" crushed stone)
  • Geotextile separator between subgrade and base
  • Slope (1/8" per foot minimum away from structures)
  • Joint sand: polymeric only — never plain sand
  • Edge restraint installed properly

How we approach a patio project in Beverly

  1. 1Discovery visit in Beverly — we measure, photograph, and listen to what you want this patio to do for the property.
  2. 2Design and material selection — samples brought to your home so the colors and textures match the seaside cottages character of your block.
  3. 3Schedule locked in writing — a real start date, a real end date, and the same crew on-site every day.
  4. 4Install by our own masons — no day-laborers, no subs we just met. Daily photos sent to you so you always know where the job stands.
  5. 5Written workmanship warranty handed over before we pull off the property — and we answer the phone after the job is done.

Patio questions, answered

Do I need a permit for a patio?
In most MA towns, patios under 200 sq ft do not require a permit. Conservation, wetlands, and historic district overlays may apply — we handle permitting when needed.
How long should a properly built patio last?
A patio with engineered base, geotextile separation, and polymeric joint sand will last 30–50+ years with minimal maintenance.
Can you build over my existing patio?
Almost never recommended. Old base material is rarely up to current standards, and overlaying creates trip hazards and drainage problems. Full removal and rebuild is the right approach.

Ready to start your Beverly patio project?

Beverly homeowners deserve masonry that lasts. Massachusetts freeze-thaw cycles compound damage every winter. A patio rebuilt before December locks in winter use and avoids the spring rush. Call (617) 913-9845 or request your free estimate online — we'll be at your property within 48 hours.
